Great project james!

It's great to see research and development come to the center of protecting people's lives. The Spanish Flu of 1918 took millions of lives when you thought about it. Corona was able to do so and technology has certainly helped save millions of lives, as well as the rapid sharing of information and actions by the Government to prevent movement.

This is an interesting method. I particularly liked the idea of using a distance sensor to provide some guidance of when the person is at the optimum distance for temperature measurement. You could add a simpler audio transducer to produce feedback to the user, a bit like a car reversing sensor. The analysis of the temperatures is also interesting.

It would be good to see a grid display from the Grid-Eye sensor as well.

Your research is interesting.

Core temperature is a key vital sign for lots of other applications as well.

We are interested in it because it can indicate when a person is over-exerting themselves. As you point out there are lots of problems depending on skin temperature to indicate core temperature. Many companies have tried to make products that combine skin temperature sensors with clever software algorithms, but the uncertainty in their results has led to poor market acceptance.

I think you did an excellent job on this project. you should still be in the competition. I thought your additional research and analysis of the problems involved in using the sensor in the real world were also well done and pertinent.
