for some reason, the video I embedded in the blog (https://youtu.be/mIMX28NFM0o ) shows as a big empty white square and gives a error 400 when you click on it.. And trying to embed it again throws a jive error..

The circuit draws 50 mA always, when the controller is in deep sleep or active. I'm measuring the Arduino only, the current going to the Vin pin.

I don't know yet who's burning all that current - maybe the WiFi module - constantly? I disconnect before going to sleep though ...

I fixed the JSON structure. I had it wrong. AWS now can parse it into its separate attributes.

I also tried deep sleep. It works, but I can't keep it to sleep for longer than 2 - 3 minutes. It doesn't wait like sleep() does.

Maybe the WiFi module is asking for attention? I'll have to dig into that.

The mA value that I get from the fuel gauge and the “time to full” figure seem to be off. Most likely because I’m interpreting the LSB first, or because of a mix of signed and unsigned. Not an issue because I only use the % and remaining capacity to calculate remaining battery authonomy. But I should fix it..

A second thing I found out is that I have to repeat Wire.start() each time before communicating with the fuel gauge. But only if I use the WiFi lib. That also uses i2c and seems to leave the bus or the Wire lib in an odd state.

Hi Jan,

Great post and very useful. That is a clever way to allow reprogramming during sleep. I won’t steer people down a bad track by describing how I have been doing it.

I have the same TI battery booster pack but you mention you modified it for efficiency. Have you posted the modifications you made?
