Well done on working out battery life and getting it accurate. I have done some battery calculations like this myself and gettingaccurate results is quite difficult. It can depend on the current flow when in operation, how long you use the current for and the time between uses. Being a chemical process there are all sorts of osmosis, depletion areas and recovery times to consider. My best result was a system that came on once every hour using an interrupt to move out of sleep mode, which flashed an LED if it was dark, comprised of a an low voltage 8 pin PIC powered by two AA batteries. It had an engraved block of Perspex above the LED with a logo on, which was created as a give-away for a conference. The case/holder was a 3D printed spring affair. It was all designed to promote the electronics, programming, manufacturing and design capability of the University. My prototype lasted for over two years with the same batteries and I retired before the batteries ran out so I never found out it's maximum life.

(Note - based on the test results, I had to re-evaulate my calculations and I came out right where the battery's data sheet said I should - ~500 button presses)

I really liked this project, it is simple yet achieves complex outcomes. Congratulations on winning. I was particularly impressed with the small geared motors that you used. I have been having motor problems with my robots so I think I will have to look into the type you used more seriously.

I like the Devastator Robot chassis one - there's something really cute about a tiny, tracked vehicle. It looks like it would feel really natural to control one by tipping the Microbit. Having watched your video, I feel like I want to build one, but I'm resisting the temptation (so far) in case I turn into Dubbie and can't stop building them!

Why did you have the Microbit taped to the ruler? Was that just to support the weight of the batteries or did you find your hands were interfering with the Bluetooth?

This looks like a very interesting build. I have seen this type of robot motion before but never actually made one. Your example has increased my interest in this approach so I now might consider this for a future robot. I liked the way you used existing materials to make the chassis. I have tried this a number of times but not with much success so I think yours is very impressive. It does look quite chunky though and heavy - which is always a problem with mobile robots. Can it be steered?

That is a great demo! It's hard getting accurate movement out of hobby-servo robot arms, so that's impressive programming too : )

That was very informative, and a lot of fun to watch the 'bot doing it's thing : ) Amazing how a simple robot can become extremely sophisticated with a camera, and the trained-up Jetson Nano.

If these things were cheaper it would be fun to upgrade them with the Nano : )
