Preparing to use the switch in a real test.

The device isn't wired in to the setup yet. I first want the flow to work. Then I'll connect it up.

I can now control the relay via LabVIEW. Here's a flow that initialises the Arduino, then switches a relay off and on every 2 seconds, until you press STOP.

You can select the relay via the channel selection.

The last block to finalise is the one that reads the status of the switch...

Nice! Switches that support SCPI are quite expensive especially from Keysight/Agilent so this could be a cool low cost solution. I have some tests that I maintain that still use SCPI over GPIB (or HPIB) which is quite a surprise. It certainly is a widely used protocol in T&M.

RestFUL APIs are another nice way to control T&M equipment remotely.

The hardware and firmware work.

The project can now listen to SCPI commands and switch two relays.

The photo below shows a test setup. Each relay switches a LED on and off on command.
