Yes the boys are still in touch and we're meeting up with him in June.

Personalised retirement gifts are always much better but sadly that is often overlooked by modern management.

Very cool, it is good to hear about events like this. Having been one of those guys whose first project was on a 16K donut core memory, programmed with punched cards with a two pass assembler via 9 inch tape drive, I can appreciate the thoughtfulness of went into you gift and the appreciation I am sure he had for it when it was given. Good job!

Oh wow! That is really amazing!

The project itself is really quite something just by itself, but added to that the memories and history makes it an absolutely incredible gift that I'm sure Clive will never forget.

It is always a fun way to reward a retiring colleague, when you reconstruct/customize a product that they worked on as a retirement gift. I have been on several reward projects in the past and it was fun for all involved. Nice project.
