I am surprised that the code compiled on Linux doesn't fit in the memory. I wonder what went wrong in the toolchain configuration. But, this IDE tries to hide the insides as much as possible, so I guess we will never know

Great Project, but can you please explain what are the drawbacks of running freeRTOS on a UNO board?

And what is the meaning of your topic name? (Mouse Droid)

This is a great project and very interesting tutorial. I have worked with an Arduino Mega 2560 to make the project The Lino Project with Arduino Mega 2560: Interrupts and Motors using the interrupts to solve the problems, but this approach is absolutely more elegant and efficient. I will try to use it on another project I am working on.

Interesting.

While RTOS has it's place, I'm wondering if careful planning won't achieve much the same.

Those 4 tasks don't appear to be large by any standard, unless the motor library is huge, so the RTOS is using a lot of valuable coding space.

The Arduino is limited in timers and you've already discovered that RTOS didn't resolve that, so it's not a magic bullet.

I've decided that a ping sensor fitted to a servo is just too distracting, and there is no easy way to make it look good ... so I won't be rotating mine.

I always understood that fixing them to a bracket resulted in ringing in the transducer which limited their close range detection, so it will be interesting to see what you've found.
