The theme this month is Recycle & Retrofit and it comes from a suggestion from robogary. Old radios and game consoles first come to mind, but your can involve taking any unused appliance and upcycling it using electronics of your choice! Recently, balearicdynamics gave a 3 part workshop on upcycling called Vintage Upcycling with Raspberry Pi or Arduino Workshop (Zero to Hero) Series. The idea for this workshop was to inspire you to take cool vintage appliances and repurpose them using a Raspberry Pi or an Arduino. As a fan of electronics, you likely have some older electronics lying around that are in need of a second life. While you can recycle & retrofit any old electronics, the great thing about vintage gear is that many of them are built to last. Some of this stuff you might have lying around, such as an old game console, a computer, or a music player. Or, you may know how to get your hands on something second hand. Safely disposing of electronics is a concern, The goal of upcycling is to prevent wasting material that could be potentially useful by making use of existing ones. Doing so, reduces the consumption of new raw materials in effect creating a new product; thus, reducing energy usage, air and water pollution, and even greenhouse gas emissions.

Upcycling connects the past to present in a way that honors what we cherish from vintage electronics while improving it to make it contemporary using modern electronics such as a Pi or an Arduino. One of the goals of upcycling is have a more "creative" version of recycling, not only designing, adapting and making usable something vintage, while adding more value, and a brand-new charm. To "upcycle" an item, is to essentially update, modernize or deconstruct it. Upcycling is about aesthetics as well as substance. Upcycling can make what you once loved, contemporary while not losing any of its old world charm.

Tempus Fugit is usually translated as "Time Flies" or "it escapes, irretrievable time." It's a good way to think of upcycling.... Upcycling is a great way to connect the past to the present.

Be Original	Stick to the Theme
You could come up with a clever name that make's your project memorable! This project is your baby! Part of the fun of bringing something new into the world is coming up with a name. Your project could introduce something new or that is not commercially available or affordable!	If you have an idea for a project that doesn't fit the current theme then submit your idea in the comments section of the monthly poll.
List the Steps	Submit Video Proof
Provide the steps you took to complete your project (text, video, or images). This could be a step by step how-to-guide, vlog, schematics, coding, napkin drawings, voice narration, or whatever you think will be useful!	If it doesn't work that's fine, this is more about the journey than the end product. A short video is all that is required but you can shoot as much video as you like. You are encouraged to be creative and have as much fun as possible!
