Greetings Everyone,
So joined the Element14 Community after running across a YouTube video from The Ben Heck Show about the Nintendo Playstation prototype Repair. I'm hoping that someone here or hopefully local to me could lend me their expertise in trouble shooting my Siemens NotePhone.
So here is a set of photos of my Siemens NotePhone on my Flickr Stream.

This is a 3rd Party Newton OS device that has a Modem and a Telephone Base when fully connected together.
This particular Newton main unit is not the standard German Newton OS. It has had its MLB transplanted from a US Newton OS MLB.
The Newton itself works find.
The Modem portion I'm unsure of, but expect it to be working also.
The Telephone Base for the most part works.
I've tested it out and fabricated a US Telephone Cable and checked that it works.
The ISSUE however is that the Telephone Base is having issues with the Handset Hook. If you leave the unit plugged in with handset down in the cradle it will sense the phone as hung up.
Unfortunately after awhile it thinks that the handset is picked up and after a longer time frame the telephone thinks it's busy with the Busy Sound.
That's the best way I can describe it.
What I'm looking for is someone to troubleshoot this so this unit can be connected and used as a telephone.
If anyone near me can do this let me know.
There are not schematics and I have a picture of the MLB (bottom).

I've contacted a few local electronics repair establishments but they are unwilling to help me with this.
I'm assuming one of the electronics is bad as I was told this happens to most units my friend has seen so far and non are exempt from this problem.
Thanks for any help you can provide. I'm willing to test myself and repair, but understand I don't have any electronics background.
I'm ex-IT laptop support specialist, so I can troubleshoot basic hardware issues but not the detailed electronics issues.
