There are many technologies that can be used to detect land mines and IEDs, although each technology has limits on what it can detect. Most of them can detect some mines at a distance, and some technologies can be quite small, so theoretically they could be installed in a boot. You could start with a simple metal detector and see if you can get that working. Then you can move on to more esoteric technologies.

RE: Something creative

I think a detector in your shoe is going to be a bit late to do you much good.

If it used an active system for detection it wouldn't be long before mine makers used that as a trigger.

MK

RE: Something creative

Hi Nihar,

I do not know anything about land mines. What would be the detectable material in the mine? Can they be detected with a metal locator? Is there any danger that an EM field would trigger them? I suspect that the military may not want to encumber the feet of the soldiers even at the risk of loosing them to mines. Your idea is to be commended.

John
