Wow , thank you for highlighting this part!

I'd not seen this before, it looks extremely interesting.

It's got an embedded Cortex-M0 (i.e. a separate core!) and ROM to simplify radio comms, and the main core is an M3, apparently with RTOS in another ROM : ) Leaving the Flash free for user apps.

Quite a lot of integrated peripherals too (including many analog ones), but also interestingly a third CPU! an engine to perform I2C/SPI offload. Perhaps with the main core shut down (not sure). This engine can be programmed in C too.

The standby and shutdown mode current consumption looks nice and low too (600 and 185nA typical respectively), and it can exit shutdown mode based on external events (and is running in 1msec! [then add on RTOS time if using it]).

I don't know what the radio powerup time is, but if it is similar to other TI radio parts, it will be pretty low.

Having used CC110x devices a lot, I've been following the CC1310 and I'm currently reading the 802.15.4-2011 standard.

Can you recommend (and post links to) documents that might be a usefull reading in preparation for this event?

Hello TI CC1310 user group,

We purchased a Simple link CC1310 evaluation module/SmartRF06 Evaluation Board with a CC1310. It
connected OK. We were able to build and debug sample projects from TI. We then
purchased a CC1310 Launchpad. The sample programs from TI built but when I
tried to debug them I get the following error.

Error connecting to the target:

(Error -151 @ 0x0)

One of the FTDI driver functions used during

the connect returned bad status or an error.

The cause may be one or more of: invalid XDS100 serial number,

blank XDS100 EEPROM, missing FTDI drivers, faulty USB cable.

Use the xds100serial command-line utility in the 'common/uscif'

folder to verify the XDS100 can be located.

(Emulation package 6.0.14.5)

I would like to get the CC1310 launchpad up and running before I take the webinar. Do you have any
suggestions.

The webinar's quality was really bad..

CISCO WebEx is a great platform but It did not work well on linux PCs...

What about the CC1350? It was briefly mentioned and I couldn't post a question in time.

There is no datasheet but there is a LaunchPad. However, the 7 page Launchpad Getting Started pdf has only a front page, a pinout picture and 5 pages of legal stuff.

Very interesting. Watched it offline and I have to agree the audio quality isn't great. It was audible though. The extra slides that weren't included in the video are worth a look too.

Q&A Session:

You mentioned the RF driver integration with RTOS, where the radio wakes up just in time to send data

Does the RTOS download come with an example of that mechanism?

[TC] This happens by default and is included in all the RF examples.

Is there any example on 6LoWPAN mesh networking?

[TC] Yes, look at comtiki: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Cc26xx_sw_examples (this also contains the infor for cc13xx)

When you say "long range" What exactly do you mean - is that one kilometer, line-of-sight, or is the term used relative to WiFi ranges of 100 meters or so?

[TC] This depends on modulation and antenna. With a good antenna the LRM phy mode reaches ranges of 10's of KM line of sight.

How are regional regulations taken care of?

[TC] For TI MAC they are included in the MC layer. For the RF examples you need to implement this, there is an example of LBT provided if that is what you need. Currently there is no FHSS examples for the RF Examples.

Are there plans to create mesh networking?

[TC] we support this in Contiki

how can we implant sensor controller studio code to the CCS?

[TC] See the WsnNode example to see how to use Sensor controller code in CCS/TIRTOS. The WsnNode project contains the sensor controller studio project, you can open the sensor controller studio project, make changes and re-export to the CCS project.

Does the sensor engine interface with digital sensors as well?

[TC] Yes

is there any spi and ADC examples in simplelink or ccs?

[TC] in the resource explorer there is an ADC project, but no SPI project.

does the CC1310 automatically select the best ISM band for performance or is it selected in firmware

[TC] No this cannot be known. It depends the region you wish to operate in.

Errata also states data rates below 2.4kbps are not supported, so what about 0.625 kbps long range mode?

The over the air datarate is 10 kbps due to DSSS/ FEC.
