If I could find one, I'd like to take an old 1940/s mechanical calculator and convert it to a rpi unit.

I like the idea of upcycling an old phone, infact we have a very old white rotary phone with goldish trim. Could be a great gag for in the office.

Would be interesting to figure out how to make it work with a PBX system that uses multi-line POE phones. Maybe could use the POE for the Pi appliance as well.

Amazing how these devices offer a blank canvas of infinite possibilities

What a fantastic idea for a book! I would like to upcycle my 1980s HERO-1 robot with 2020s smarts and connectivity using a Raspberry Pi!

I have a oak wall telephone with crank (1908) that I would like to connect to google voice hat on a raspberry pi to repond to "operator" prompt. I would also like the bell to be controlled by an event, such as a timer, alarm clock function, etc.

I've an old bread maker with no use today. Worth noting that it uses a simple 4 bit microcontroller. I' d like to convert it to a "roaster coffe". The idea is to use the features available on Raspberry in order to experiment different roast profiles (curves), and control algorithms along a rich and modern user interface for the operation. The bread maker already contains a temperature sensor. Add an external ADC and proper conditioning circuit it's easy.

I would like to update a pickup that plays vinyl records. The control part of the motor that drives the turntable no longer works properly and as such the rotation speed is variable which leads to distortions in the playback of the songs.
