I think that presented experiments are really interesting - I think it is more interesting that a presentation only. Maybe further webinars could include more of the content of that type?

Thank you for the nice webinar. It would be useful to be able to scroll between the slides, at least backwards. It would have also been nice to explain the circuit that is being used in the video demonstrations.

Great webinar with lots of interesting informations. I really liked brief videos of experimentations, especially the Hipot test. I did not found the slide in pdf format, that could be useful both for following the webinar and after the fact as notes.

Clearly presented and practical education on DC-DC converters. A little point of feedback: It would be nice to be able to scroll through the slides in order to refer back to other information.

the experiments shown in the webinar were great! when i asked something about the potentially increased temperature of the more power dense transformers, minutes later they showed that with a thermal imager, which basically answered my question before getting to the Q&A section. more webinars should show experiments in real time like this. very educational!

Cathal has shared his answers to some of the questions we did not get time to answer during the session so I am including them all below:

Is temperature inducted inductance change of transformer something to worry about in resonant converters when load changes?
The temperature can cause problems with the gain of the converter so this needs to be tested.

In which applications could the use of planar transformers be an added value?
Low power signal transformers for isolated SPI.

Tooling cost of course is a big factor, but, this has made me curious about a material i haven't seen used in this application ever, has glass been considered at all as a bobbin material?
Not that I am aware of.

Do you use special resin with specific electrical characteristic for the 3D printed bobbin or is standard resin fine for a prototype?
The resin we use has a high operating temperature up to 250C so it is fine for prototype testing but is very brittle and degrades over time. How is a prototype like this compared to a final part? 3D printed bobbins need pins inserted afterwards, the coplanarity if SMD will not be production-grade.

What is the "standard" lead time for a custom bobbin? (both the 3D printed prototype and the final product)
3D printed bobbins - if the printer is free - can be completed in under 24 hours. A tool for a bobbin can take 3-4 weeks.

For flyback: do most of your customers use off-the shelf, or bespoke designs?
The majority of our customers for Flyback Transformers use bespoke.

In terms of isolation and EMI, do you see any potential application on medical grade power supply? (considering the flyback topology)
Medical standards refer to IEC 60664 and IEC 61558 when defining the isolation so the same rules should apply.

That is triple isolation and when is it used? I've always heard of double and reinforced isolation but never about triple isolation.
That was a typing error. I meant reinforced insulation using triple insulated wire, mea culpa.
