So if the sensor is fully covered by the liquid there will be a change in reading.

Can the sensor detect changes in liquid conductivity.

[Kraemer, Andreas] No, typically not using capacitive sensing. Depending on the conductivity it might be possible to solve the problem using inductive sensing.

Could it detect flow?

[Kraemer, Andreas] No, not as far as I know.

If I have a SMPS running at exactly the same frequency as the osc. in the sensing system is it then possible to change the tank's tuning frequency?

[Kraemer, Andreas] Yes, changing the tank’s frequency can do done just by changing the inductance in the tank.

Is it possible to detect the size of droplets falling through a confined area?

[Kraemer, Andreas] As long as the droplet stay in the sensing range over the conversion time (some ms) yes.

Deneral detection range for both non conductive or conductive?

[Kraemer, Andreas] This is not easy to answer as it depends heavily on the mechanical size of the sensor. Up to 50cm is feasible. Longer distance could be possible if the sensor can be really large

EMC compliance a problem?

[Kraemer, Andreas] EMI is always a problem in cap sensing solutions. The FDC2x1x family is drastically less affected by radiated noise than traditional charge based solutions. There are several possibilities to make the system EMC compliant.
