&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;Successive approximation register (SAR) analog to digital converters (ADCs) take a continuous analog waveform and converts it into a discrete digital representation via a binary search through all possible quantization levels before converging upon a digital output.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;padding:0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;Conversely, Delta-Sigma ADCs employ different configurations of complicated digital filtering to enhance the overall resolution of the ADC.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;padding:0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;SAR and Delta-Sigma are two of the most common types of precision analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) available today.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;padding:0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;If you&amp;#39;re a design engineer, do you have a preference?
