I dont understand the difference between those sensor categories listed.

Fitness & sports for sure a sensor would include accelerometers, but they would be wearable, and most health sensors would line to be wearable as well unless monitoring for a specific condition that requires multiple big sensors. Wearable fits the same as a medical sensor if you are strapped in a gurney.

Medical sensors I guess could be more invasive assuming a person is bed ridden ?

The questions break sensors into market (and indirectly, application) segments (and only cover a small subsection of the total). As an engineer I'm interested in the technology of the sensors rather than the end use.

From the set of sensors in the question, I am mostly interested in wearable vital signs sensors, but a much larger set of sensors than are currently available. For example sensors that detect and localize all different types of injury such as bleeding, pain, broken bones, consciousness, swelling, limping, loss of vision, loss of hearing, numbness, restricted air flow, TBI, burns, etc. There are sensors that detect hydration, core temperature, respiration, SPO2, heart rate, blood pressure, posture, impact, EEG, alertness, blood sugar, etc. but many of these need to be significantly improved before they are suitable for wider market appeal.

There are many innovative sensors nowa days available. While basic MEMS temp,humidy and pressure sensors are most common. The sensors which are used in industry and for example in autonomous driving, Aerospace interest me a most.

Some of the sensors used in missions such as NASA's curiosity rover has very high profile sensors to understand the martian surface.

Given the overlap, how about a higher level overview of wearable sensors and how they are being used in the three areas of medical, fitness and healthcare ?
