Ift would be a huge improvement to the Essentials programme (which is a great idea itself) if the contributors could try much harder not to promote their own products but to make a reasonable effort to go for a vendor agnostic approach.

The attached quiz should not contain any questions of the "which of vendor X's parts ....".

If you are short of contributors I would be happy to do one on transistors (bipolar junction) in small signal circuits and possibly one on choosing capacitors.

Displays as suggested by robogary seems like a good idea.

I was recently looking for information on color sensors in Essentials and couldn't find anything. Interested in knowing what types of color sensors there are. How do they work. What "intelligence" do they have? What algorithms are used to categorize colors. What types of measurements can be obtained and their applications to different types of industry, painting, paper publishing, photography, food, medicine, etc...

HMI Matrix displays - OLEDs, etc , there are alot of varieties of sizes, pixels, speeds, and the interface drivers SW & HW needed. I feel in love with the SSD1306. I also got some nice 160 X 128 https://www.newark.com/densitron/dd-160128fc-1a/display-oled-rgb-160x128/dp/62M4128?ost=1498857 displays, not realizing they werent I2C and needed ribbon cable connectors. I'd like to learn more essentials to: 1) pick the right OLED for my project needs, 2) be able to order any accessory parts needed to interface to the OLEDs ( like an I2C interface with the appropriate ribbon cable connector for that specific 160 X 128 I mentioned) 3) and just be more comfortable using those OLED matrix displays on every project.
