We're getting more GXL Tiva Launchpads in this week!

Hi Everyone.

Good news! I just found out that we should be receiving another batch of the EK-TM4C123G Tiva C Launchpads over the next two days. Orders are shipped on a first-come, first-serve basis. This means if you place your order for the Tiva C now, you should get it in time for class.

Please note this applies only to the Tiva C Launchpad, not the Stellaris Launchpad (EK-LM4F120XL).

Hope this helps!

Sagar

Yes,  I am back.  I am enrolled in the edX course.  Oh, boy, are we going to Shape the World, let me tell you.

I will be using the Stellaris Launchpad (EK-LM4F120XL) because I bought 6 of them last year on…

I had wondered where you've been. Thought maybe you ran away from us. Good to see you back.

It is a great project and all done by students too. I was lucky to have been shown it a couple of years ago and took some photos below.

This Youtube video explains the technology (a couple of minutes in).

This is what the battery box looks like opened up:

Some info is in this photo:

Fantastic - thanks for the link... do you know what the end cost to the recipient countries would be? I'm a bit suspicious that it was funded by tech investors but hopefully it is 'charitable' to the core and for the future.

It's a shame so much aid from the UN gets squandered by corrupt leaders for their personal gains (and I'm not saying they all are/they all do) when there's such good projects like this and the Desert Fridge that could've been funded instead.

As I understand, it was not funded by investors at all - it was purely a student led project since around 2008 that grew and was improved per iteration, and new students would follow in the previous year students shoes. Hopefully it can be extended to other regions around the world now.

Ah, yes I think it wasn't to begin with but in the link to the article it looks like they have now received funding $1.5m+

You're right.. I imagine the investors are more interested in just seeing the funds used as best as possible and for the project to grow. It is a charity so there may be rules for what they can pay back (I don't really know : (

As far as I know charities can pay back contributions if they collect money that exceeds the sum required to meet their aims (e.g. a "save the school" charity would pay back donations if they received more money than that required to save the school). But not sure about investments!
