Why don't you just use Kismet and collect a lot more data more easily ?

It also works with broken and more marginal packets with a nice live interface and GPS integration.

Sorry this might be silly , but how did you sketch the graph? You obviously selected the time but what are the numbers on vertical axis?

Very cool. Curious on how long the battery has been lasting with your experiment?

Playing with the loop timing and perhaps moving to a vehicle, even a two wheel bicycle might also be interesting. I remember driving around with a laptop and external antenna was an interesting trip, once you jump onto highway/interstate/freeway paths then speed and scanning can become an issue but still interesting. :-)

I have considered looking into my neighbors networks, but lack the time.

If I get further along, I now know that I can use the RPi to look into the options.
