Teachers&amp;#39; Day represents a significant token of the awareness, understanding, and appreciation displayed for the vital contribut</description><dc:language>en-US</dc:language><generator>Telligent Community 12</generator><item><title>RE: Celebrating Teachers&amp;#39; Day!</title><link>https://community.element14.com/learn/learning-center/stem-academy/b/blog/posts/celebrating-teachers-day</link><pubDate>Fri, 01 Sep 2017 20:24:46 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">93d5dcb4-84c2-446f-b2cb-99731719e767:58b7e9a2-cf1a-4abb-a0a8-9fd28db5ff1e</guid><dc:creator>DAB</dc:creator><slash:comments>0</slash:comments><description>&lt;p&gt;The teachers who I best responded to were the ones who could make the subject interesting enough that I got excited about learning more about it.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Sadly, most of the teachers I had, including through college and post graduate level, were just book repeaters.&amp;nbsp; They could have been easily replaced with a monotone computer.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The few very good ones demonstrated and understanding of the material and simplified it so that I immediately understood how well THEY knew the material so that I could ask them knowledgeable question beyond what the book said.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Those teachers I remember and I always tried to duplicate their capability when I was faced with explaining things to others.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;My motto became, &amp;quot;If you can not explain a subject so that your mother could understand it, then you did not know it well enough to teach others!&amp;quot;&amp;nbsp; Note, my mother was just a high school graduate with a slight business and home economics background.&amp;nbsp; So if your mother has higher education, then substitute to a seventh grader in place of mother. &lt;span&gt;[View:/resized-image/__size/16x16/__key/commentfiles/f7d226abd59f475c9d224a79e3f0ec07-58b7e9a2-cf1a-4abb-a0a8-9fd28db5ff1e/contentimage_5F00_3.png:16:16]&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;DAB&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=21252&amp;AppID=134&amp;AppType=Weblog&amp;ContentType=0" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
