Here is my custom mnemonic math triangle for constant current ramp work. I have this time and date stamped on youtube.

T = Time, V = Voltage, I = Constant Current & C = Capacitance

I think it's easier to derive from the formula; the arrangement of the four variables in a triangle doesn't work (whereas with three variables, the V=IR triangle makes sense, and same for other relationships like these).

Here's a four-variable representation which makes sense.. although this was quickly done with AI, so check it before use. The style however is (or was) very popular back when electronic calculators were not common (and often precise values are not needed, just a ballpark, because of component tolerances). This can be done for all manner of formulae (was popular for 555 timer calculations too).

How interesting - to me it looks like those meaningless diagrams that people use to illustrate corporate time-wasting presentations 🙂

The equation is T = (C * dV)/I

or dV = (T * I) / C

(dV because its the change in V while I and C are constant)

I just can't see how the diagram shows that.

If a vertical bar means * and a horizontal bar means / then what does the horizontal bar below T mean ?

I can't work out a consistent decode of the diagram.

I know that some people associate colours with numbers or letters (synesthesia) - I don't.

Maybe "seeing" this diagram is a similar thing.

Nice mnemonic! Triangles like this make it much easier to remember the relationships when working with capacitor ramp circuits. Simple visual tricks like these are actually very useful when doing quick calculations or explaining concepts. Thanks for sharing it.

Nice looking kits. I've never owned/built Fischertechnik stuff but it looks fairly sturdy. Unfortunately, it will be quite a while before my grandson would be ready for one of these. In the meantime I'll try to get him interested with stuff that I already own with the expectation that it will not survive very long (he's not quite 3). I've been thinking of resurrecting an old Lego Mindstorms kit but that might be a challenge. Maybe convert it to use a more recent processor with WiFi/BLE and graphical block programming.

Quite an interesting (and ambitious) project currently being built out of Fischertechnik constructor kit components.

Due to be on display at BUGA23 in Mannheim.

It's pretty big...

...with lots of moving parts

and should appeal to those in the STEM community.

Green Envy finally gets to make its debut at Lake Gairdner

After 3 years of waiting in anticipation, Green Envy finally managed to make its debut run at Lake Gairdner (Australia) during Speed Week 2023.

As some may know, Eva is a strong advocate for STEM education and has featured previously in publications like STEM Women Magazine:

Green Envy is a battery powered streamliner motorcycle designed and built to become the worlds fasted motorcycle. It was built in around 6 months ready for its debut in 2020 but due to the pandemic and bad weather it has had to remain in storage up until now. Even this year bad weather stopped play for 2 days out of 5 limiting the number of runs to only 4. Even so, 178MPH was recorded during the licensing runs.

(The sort of speeding ticket you don't mind being presented with.)

I've been following the progress for a number of years now and it has been fascinating. It is like many element14 projects here but perhaps with a little bit more horsepower in the electric motors.

Just about every aspect of the build has been openly shared on-line which could make for a great STEM type study.
