Data Logger for the BMP180 Pressure and Temperature Sensor for the Raspberry Pi

This is a simple data logger for the Raspberry Pi and the BMP180 Temperature and Pressure logger. Setting it up and getting measurements was so simple, I hope more people can do it. My goal is to get more measurements for experiments around the ideal gas law. Any comments or suggestions for improvement would be very welcome!

This is a set of instructions you can use to make stop motion animation with the Raspberry Pi. It draws really heavily from the wonderful Raspberry Pi Worksheet. I added a portion at the end that describes how you can get the images off of the Raspberry Pi using WinSCP and how to turn them into a movie using Movie Maker.

This is a wonderful project. If you have the Pi Camera, this is a great way to use it for making stop motion movies. It is a good introduction to the GPIO pins, and a great way to take pictures rapidly and manually. If you have any comments or thoughts, please let me know. I would be happy to make updates!

Triton College Training

This is the training, we did with the Illinois State Learning Exchange at Triton College on 2/27/15. There were 16 teachers there and they learned how to:

Unbox and set up their RPis.
Take pictures with a Pi NoIR camera.
Make the RPi a local web server.
Build a temperature sensor circuit

With the help of Element 14, I recently led the second of two trainings for educators with Raspberry Pis and the Pi Camera. The training went well, and I am proud to say that we were able to go from setup to the creation of a time lapse movie in under two hours. Thanks to some of our teachers for leading the way and pointing out some ways to make it faster. I hope you all find this helpful!

Raspberry Pi Training Truman College

This is the powerpoint that I used during the Raspberry Pi Training at Truman College. Thank you to all those who attended. For anyone who couldn't make it, we will most likely do more of these. There was a lot of interested in getting together to work on projects.

In this training we:

Unboxed Raspberry Pis.
Plugged them in and loaded the operating system for the first time.
Looked at a Raspberry Pi - Internet Radio project
Updated and Upgraded our operating system
Downloaded Apache2 to make our RPis local web servers.
Looked up our IP addresses.
Made changes to a local web page

The update and upgrade took a while, so we didn't get a chance to load and run Minecraft, like we wanted to. Those instructions will be posted to the community as well.

Raspberry Pi Temperature Logger Using gspread

This is a set of instructions for a temperature logger using the Raspberry Pi. It uses gspread, a python library to take data from the temperature probe and report it out to a google spreadsheet. I found this to be incredibly helpful, and an easy way to log lots of information in a place that is easy to access and easy to download.

This is good for now, but the next step is to build a client website that will start and stop the temperature probe, open and title a new spreadsheet, and display the current temperature as well as a graph of the temperature over time. I think that should be pretty straightforward, but its all things I don't know how to do. It just seems to me like it is something I can learn to do, which is why I love this stuff overall.

Raspberry Pi Internet Radio Instructions

These instructions should be able to walk you through the process of turning your RPi into a headless music player using MPD and MPC. In this project, I only add internet radio streams, as opposed to song files. Those can be added as well.

This is a description of what I would like to do with, well something. Ideally, I would construct the circuit (easy) and have a computer record the output either continuosly or at regular time intervals. This project is really interesting to me. I am not sure where to start, however. Arduino or RPi?

In these instructions, the experiment is to test the path length dependence of Beer's Law. That is pretty cool, and I would be happy to do that. I would rather play around with the light source. I would like to stick a glowstick or a firefly in as the light source and use the same or similar detector. The results should give me some kinetic information.
