It is truly an exciting time to be learning electronics/engineering. There are so many things that are possible now, that years ago would require so much electronics and/or development that they would be almost impossible to imagine that students could attempt projects like electric vehicle development. Well done! Enjoy your project and education. There will be many great things to develop now and throughout you career.

I always wanted to make my own electric vehicle. I got as far as a battery powered cart you could sit on and then retirement beckoned. It seems more and more likely that I'll soon be able to buy an electric car (at a price I consider reasonable) and then my dream will have come true. It would still be fun to make my own though.

Nice build.

The only thing I might have added would be a heat sink and a variable fan just in case of a heat build up during charging and operation.

I always wanted to make one of these. The best attempt I was involved with used skateboard wheels and wood offcuts salvaged from a skip with two 20 Watt solar panels and managed a few feet before a motor burnt out. It was a very small motor and quite a big person being carried. It was still a day of great triumph.

I have read your experimental situation. I just want to know what would happen if one wants to go for example, restroom or lending a book from another floor. Does the system would update the seat is available to others?

That is a pretty impressive package. I would agree with [mention:4966e6ad97f64dac9ea8919abb220e1d:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05] about heat concerns. I hope that your testing has verified that the batteries are operating in a save state (heat and current draw).

Good update.

I am concerned about the heat build up in the battery packs.

You did a great job of fitting everything in, but did you do a thermal transfer analysis?

You might want to think about a way to extract the heat, maybe a liquid coolant system.

It is amazing the amount of planning and testing that have to go into a successful build. Most people that see your finished electric cycle will never imagine how much time you have put into it. Great job and thanks for sharing with us.

This is a great post. The field of electric vehicles (especially motorcycles) is fascinating to me. I had in the past flirted with the idea of joining a startup, working on the development of an electric motorcycle. Unfortunately, after a few interviews a couple of job offers, I had to walk away from that idea, as the company just seemed to have more issues (money and staffing) than I wanted to deal with.
