I'm just beginning with an after sachool girl's programming and coding club at the school I teach at. Your explanation of everything and lesson plan for your student is a huge help to me wrapping my mind around how I want to go about starting. Thank you for sharing that!

This longish blog says if you give ownership of python or idle program to root and CHMOD 4755 to it, then the program can do GPIO without SUDO. Note there are risks involved.

Run outside the IDLE and do these:

1. 1. CHMOD +X your_python.PY
  2. SUDO ./your_python.PY
  3. Enter password for root

Reason for this code comes from the fact that GPIO code requires root permission from kernel!
