We had got hold of some Copper Sulphate from ebay and stopped filming the snow . We planned to film one form set of crystals from above using the Visual-Pi...

RE: Raspberry Pi Educators Road Test: Timelapse crystals 3 - Home Education Project

It's nice to see you doing experiments with your kids but I'm quite unable to see what the Pi brought to this party. You can grow copper sulphate crystals with no special equipment at all and observe the results by eye, sketching and counting the crystals. I bet their eyes (especially aided by a magnifying glass) are a good deal better than the RPi camera (3D for a start).

MK

RE: Raspberry Pi Educators Road Test: Timelapse crystals 3 - Home Education Project

Great post.

Have you done a crystal vs time chart to show how long it took to get the crystal growth?

I was also thinking that you could monitor the temperature of the solution to see if it also changed over time as the copper crystalized out of the solution.

DAB
