You create a sound 180 degrees out of phase with the unwanted noise. If the sound you're trying to cancel is at a dangerous level, then the sound created to actively cancel it would be at a similarly high level. Any mistake here could double the already dangerous level of sound.

RE: IoT-Enabled Hearing Protection Device

So, you'll be attempting to actively cancel out a dangerous level of sound by generating a similarly dangerous level of sound. I know noise cancelling has been proven to work subjectively, but does it actually reduce the pressure that the user's hearing is exposed to?

It sounds like there's a risk of not preventing hearing damage or worse causing more damage. How will you test this safely?

Also, how does IoT fit into this? It all seems to be local active noise reduction, just louder.

RE: IoT-Enabled Hearing Protection Device

Environmental noise has been an increasing issue in our modern life.
