In this tech spotlight (Tech Spotlight: Piezoresistive and Foil-Based Pressure Sensing Technologies) we discussed some of the basic pressure sensing technologies. We also went over the main types of pressure sensors: Absolute, Gage, Sealed Reference, Vacuum, and Differential. Sensing pressure is one of the most basic physical forces known to humankind. Pressure has been used and sensed since ancient times. The Egyptians used it to operate an automatic door opener. The ancient Romans used pressure transducers to measure flow in their aqueducts. Today, we have the technology to develop micro-sized MEMS pressure sensors and transducers, smaller than the tip of a pen. It's all pretty amazing. So here's your poll question: How Are You Going to Use a Pressure Sensor in Your Next Electronics Project? I've listed some ideas below, but you can offer your own in the comments section.
