Poll: How Would You Change the World with the Intel ®︎ Neural Compute Stick 2?

The Intel Registered Neural Compute Stick 2 (NCS2) is a plug & play AI device for deep learning inference at the edge. The NCS2 is built on the Intel Registered MovidiusTm MyriadTm X VPU featuring 16 programmable shave cores and a dedicated neural compute engine for hardware acceleration of deep neural network inferences. You can start developing quickly with the NCS2. Plug into in the Raspberry Pi and go!

At least with Deep learning we can actually be able to do something about the environment, like recognize plant disease and stuff like that.

As I plug in my NCS2, a spherical electromagnetic vortex shield would suddenly appear all around me to protect me from Spam emails and Telemarketing phone calls, the air inside the bubble will be cleansed and disinfected against airborne viruses, a calming musical orchestra will make all the day’s worries dissolve into the ether, and all will be well again.

    Disclaimer:

It’s a powerful device - not for children, or those individuals that might become children.

It all depends upon what the software can do with it.

I would use it to change the educational world. Every student should receive one and see what they come up with. Students are our future and go into different fields they are interested in. They would come up with so many different ideas some are guaranteed to change the world. Some ideas would be things we have never thought of. This truly would change the world and the way we see it now.

I would like to see neural computing used to augment human senses:

    • improve vision - see and recognize things the person can't see - using high res cameras or IR cameras etc.
    • recognize things of interest that the person is not focussing on - an extra pair of intelligent eyes
    • decipher and translate audible sounds, speech music, etc in the environment that the user may have trouble understanding - a universal translator
    • assess environmental hazards and threat levels that the user may not be aware of - using sensor fusion
    • notify the person of relevant situational information gleaned from the internet or other sources, such as monitoring traffic reports on several different radio stations at the same time
    • notify the person of who is in the vicinity, for example the identity of whoever is approaching, or who is watching the person
    • computing and calculating difficult things like where did a golf ball end up (when it can't be seen - in the bush)

    Maybe call it Jarvis?
