Poll: How Are You Using Image Sensors in Your Projects and Prototypes

Image sensors are fabricated using metal-oxide-semiconductor technology and can be categorized into two types as per their pixel element: Charged Couple Device (CCD) and CMOS sensor. Image sensors are utilized in many different electronic devices, including cameras, medical equipment, thermal imaging equipment, and more.

Are there privacy issues? In case you have clear view of your cross-the-street neighbour's property?

I've used image sensor (in USB camera) for Driver State Monitor with OpenCV and BeagleBone AI project.

In the UK it's a complete extreme : ( As far as I understand (could be wrong) anything goes pretty much when it comes to camera/recording for residential premises, provided the camera is attached to a wall of the residence (i.e. not on a separate pole or tower or gate). No need for warning sign and no restriction on zoom or resolution, infra-red etc, or quantity of cameras. If it is not on a wall then other rules apply which I'm not aware of.

For business premises it might be different, I don't know the rules for that either.

Over here (Belgium) you can put a recording camera if it only captures your property.

Doorbell and other cameras that show street and neighbours are allowed if they do not record.

I don't know what privacy laws might apply, I won't be recording anything - it will be just like looking through the peephole that is already there.

I have zero desire to review days of video - I just want to know who is at the door before I get up - since sometimes I can hardly walk.

My next camera project will likely be a WiFi peephole camera for my front door. The main logistics issue is how to provide power.

I do, however, plan to use OpenCV and a NCS2 I have and also the Camera to do some object detection and perhaps even some more important use cases like plant disease detection.

Aha, "On-Semiconductor", "Image Sensors," "tech Spotlight"

I reckon this has something to do with that Ultra96 OnSemi Dual Camera maggezine they were considering road testing!

    AHA!
