I learned about this bulb a few weeks ago in a book my 2 y/o checked out from the library. He's into fire trucks and fire stations. (He's the next generation after William to get a doll, but he mostly follows gender stereotypes despite our efforts.) Anyway, he was into the light bulb and things the fields that carry electronics shooting down wires at 200,000km/sec, but he can't understand the difference between 100 seconds and a 100 years. If something isn't happening in the next minute or within one minute ago, it's lumped into the "not now" category that he's not that interested in.

I was impressed that they wrote a book about it for kids. It's The Little Light Shines Bright.

They certainly got their money's worth. Great article.

You guys should have a special section with at least one

"page from history" post per week.

I never knew that I grew up near one of the major early light bulb manufacturers. After all these years, it represents a great achivement of Quality over Quantity.
