To the contrary, I found them t...en-USTelligent Community 12https://community.element14.com/learn/publications/b/blog/posts/error-budgets-launch-careersTue, 27 Mar 2012 02:42:09 GMT93d5dcb4-84c2-446f-b2cb-99731719e767:8cb38340-af7e-4c65-a2b5-cf23fc7bd90bgervasi1<p>I imagine in the error budget you sometimes look into details even the designers didn&#39;t consider.&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>I encoutered tolerance budgets on a mechanical project, in which I wanted just to the root square sum of error components.&nbsp; I imagine mechanical parts&#39; deviation following a Gaussian distribution, while I imagine electronic parts being bimodally distributed.&nbsp; People say values of components like resistors are bimodally distributed because on a reel of 5% resistors, all the ones tighter than 2% went to 2% reel.&nbsp; All the ones between 5% and 10% go to the 10% reel.&nbsp; Experimentally I have found values that disprove this, assuming my meter is cal&#39;ed.&nbsp; I wonder if there&#39;s any truth to the bimodal story.</p><img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=13874&AppID=45&AppType=Weblog&ContentType=0" width="1" height="1">
