That is according to a new report from the Institute of Mechanical Developments, which said that ...</description><dc:language>en-US</dc:language><generator>Telligent Community 12</generator><item><title>RE: How will technology influence results at London 2012?</title><link>https://community.element14.com/learn/publications/b/blog/posts/how-will-technology-influence-results-at-london-2012</link><pubDate>Fri, 06 Jul 2012 20:10:02 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">93d5dcb4-84c2-446f-b2cb-99731719e767:d70aaf8f-f339-43b8-a77d-d120b0e099f8</guid><dc:creator>DAB</dc:creator><slash:comments>1</slash:comments><description>&lt;p&gt;Sadly, the Olympics have becomoe more about technology than skill or strength.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;While I don&amp;#39;t mind high tech training, the constant struggle to achieve a &amp;quot;technical&amp;quot; edge is one of the reasons I no longer watch or follow the games.&amp;nbsp; They have evolved into a totally political event instead of a sporting event.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;As for swimming, I liked the East German idea of having the contestants swim naked.&amp;nbsp; You have to admit, it makes all of the discussions about super suits moot.&amp;nbsp; The same can be done for running and other events.&amp;nbsp; The initial Olympic events were all conducted in the buff.&amp;nbsp; If you want to completely level the playing field, you need to get back to those basics.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;From what I have observed, all of the technical advances only fuel the controversy over cheating and such bad sportsmanship that it greatly diminishes the games.&amp;nbsp; If you have a tie, re-run the event with the top two competitors.&amp;nbsp; Let them prove their ability and not leave the results up to the judges.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I wish I was not so cynical, but I have not been interested in the Olympics since the debacle of the 1972 games.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I have seen very little improvement since then.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Just my opinion,&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;DAB&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=14087&amp;AppID=45&amp;AppType=Weblog&amp;ContentType=0" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
