The first practical thing that comes to mind is all the reports of average salaries of jobs requiring on...</description><dc:language>en-US</dc:language><generator>Telligent Community 12</generator><item><title>RE: Yes, Math Is Necessary</title><link>https://community.element14.com/learn/publications/b/blog/posts/yes-math-is-necessary</link><pubDate>Mon, 06 Aug 2012 19:31:46 GMT</pubDate><guid isPermaLink="false">93d5dcb4-84c2-446f-b2cb-99731719e767:ff2edf75-d053-4dca-9e4d-a549a280ad23</guid><dc:creator>DAB</dc:creator><slash:comments>0</slash:comments><description>&lt;p&gt;I think the real problem is finding capable people to teach math courses.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Face it, if you have good math skills, you will make a lot more money in business then you will in education.&amp;nbsp; So what is left, people who kinda knows math but have an education degree, who teach the classes with a bare minimum of understanding, who can&amp;#39;t answer really good questions and probably discourage many budding technical people from pursuing it further.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I have been really disappointed with our education system that stresses lowering standards so that the students &amp;quot;won&amp;#39;t feel like failures!&amp;quot;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So to make the kids feel better, we graduate nonfunctional idiots, many of whom cannot read and write or even make change for a dollar.&amp;nbsp; They become the many people who wonder why they cannot get a job.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;If you want to be successful, you have to excell at the difficult subjects.&amp;nbsp; Taking the easy road just makes sure that you stay poor.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Just my opinion, &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;DAB&lt;/p&gt;&lt;img src="https://community.element14.com/aggbug?PostID=14740&amp;AppID=45&amp;AppType=Weblog&amp;ContentType=0" width="1" height="1"&gt;</description></item></channel></rss>
