I think the real problem is finding capable people to teach math courses.

Face it, if you have good math skills, you will make a lot more money in business then you will in education. So what is left, people who kinda knows math but have an education degree, who teach the classes with a bare minimum of understanding, who can't answer really good questions and probably discourage many budding technical people from pursuing it further.

I have been really disappointed with our education system that stresses lowering standards so that the students "won't feel like failures!"

So to make the kids feel better, we graduate nonfunctional idiots, many of whom cannot read and write or even make change for a dollar. They become the many people who wonder why they cannot get a job.

If you want to be successful, you have to excell at the difficult subjects. Taking the easy road just makes sure that you stay poor.
