A very interesting development.

I immediately saw the ability to provide brail sensations to the tablet so that a vision impaired person could still use the device, even without seeing the screen. That type of tactile surface could have many uses in teaching, training and finding faults without needing to see the actual surface.

Consider a remote device experiencing stress. Think about how you could "touch" the stress vectors to feel how much force is being applied.

The possibilities are very impressive.

The flexible display screens have been progressing nicely over the last few years. After all, most of your LCD screens are support for the illumination media. Once you can use ambiant light from behind the screen, all you need to do is hang it up.
