&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;Tokyo-based electronics and telecoms firm OKI has unveiled plans to increase LED production and enhance new LED-related businesses.&lt;span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;OKI has concluded a basic agreement to acquire an LED production facility in Japan&amp;#39;s Takasaki City from Renesas Technology, with operations expected to commence at the former semiconductor front-end process line in April 2010.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Hideichi Kawasaki, president of OKI Electric Industry, said the move is &amp;quot;the first of many&amp;quot; decisions he will be making to accelerate the company&amp;#39;s growth in this area. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;quot;I believe that increasing our LED production capacity will enable us to apply our competitive LED technology not only to our printers but also to new areas, such as ultra small displays, where growth is expected,&amp;quot; he commented.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;OKI recently announced that it had developed a technology to precisely suppress polarization-mode dispersion, which is the main cause of interference when attempting high-speed optical communication greater than 100Gbps.&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19251025"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-19251025-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19251025" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
