Larson Electronics' firm Magnalight has announced the release of its first explosion-proof LED light for fluorescent replacement in hazardous areas.

The EPL-48-2L-LED is equipped with two 24-watt LED T-series style bulbs as an alternative to the popular EPL-48-2L explosion-proof fluorescent light fixture.

It can run on voltages ranging from 120 volts to 277 volts and low voltage models can run on 12 and 24 volts AC or DC.

Rob Bresnahan, president of Larson Electronics, said at 50,000 hours of life the longevity of the product offers obvious cost savings.

"The gap in bulb longevity is much greater with incandescent lights than it is with fluorescents," he commented.

"However, the Magnalight T-series LED tubes have lumen output on par with the T8 32 watt fluorescent."

Magnalight recently announced that it has added a UL 783-compliant explosion-proof torch to its range of lighting solutions for use in hazardous areas.
