Optek releases half-watt LED package

A miniature half-watt LED package has been developed by Texas-based manufacturer Optek Technology.

The 3.5mm surface mount OVS5MxBCR4 Series is an energy-efficient LED light source that exhibits a high luminosity while retaining a long operating lifespan.

Available in a variety of colours including white, warm white, blue, green, red and amber, the packages also feature a 120-degree viewing angle and a water clear lens.

Alan Bennett, vice-president of worldwide sales for Optek, said the devices are suitable for interior and exterior lighting applications in the automotive and architectural industries.

"The high luminous intensity in the miniature package size allows the LED source to be employed in a wide range of conventional and specialty lighting applications," he commented.

Optek, which has been providing optoelectronic components for nearly 40 years, was last year named a certified partner in Osram's LED Light For You network, designed to support lighting manufacturers, planners and LED users.
