&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;A major US restaurant chain has decided to reduce its energy consumption and environmental impact by making the switch to LED lighting.&lt;span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Red Robin Gourmet Burgers has replaced approximately 12,000 standard incandescent and halogen lights in more than 150 of its sites with energy-efficient seven-watt General Electric (GE) LED lights.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is thought the switch will contribute towards Red Robin&amp;#39;s drive to save several hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual lighting costs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;quot;Switching to LED lamps in our company-owned Red Robin restaurants offers immediate energy-cost advantages given the number of locations involved in our energy reduction efforts,&amp;quot; commented John Rogers, Red Robin&amp;#39;s president of capital purchasing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The seven-watt GE lamps have an output of 200 lumens, cut energy consumption by up to 77 per cent and last more than six times longer than a standard bulb.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;GE recently helped communications firm AT&amp;amp;T to switch to LED signage on more than 6,500 office buildings and retail locations across the US.&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19292134"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-19292134-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19292134" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
