A new wireless sensor network (WSN) platform has been introduced by National Instruments (NI) as a complete remote monitoring solution.

Consisting of NI graphical programming software and reliable, low-power measurement nodes, the platform incorporates 30 years of the firm's experience in data acquisition systems.

According to NI, engineers and scientists worldwide have been switching to wireless technology to meet the challenges posed by structural health and environmental monitoring application where wiring is problematic.

"The NI WSN platform provides the ease-of-use necessary to quickly configure and deploy wireless sensors in a wide range of applications," commented Dr William Kaiser of the University of California, Los Angeles.

He added: "The use of NI technology will allow us to improve the commuter experience, reduce additional traffic and emissions as commuters search for parking."

The firm's LabVIEW software, which is incorporated into the platform, makes it possible to deploy code to wireless sensor networks to help engineers and scientists build industrial measurement and monitoring systems.
