&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;Idaho-based manufacturer SemiLEDs has announced a joint cooperation with Taiwan&amp;#39;s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) to convert part of the institute&amp;#39;s street lights from metal halide into energy-saving LED systems.&lt;span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The 24-watt LED systems were designed by ITRI itself, containing P2 lamps packaged by Helios Crew that use high power LED chips from SemiLEDs.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As well as providing greater light quality and distribution around the campus, the systems use less than ten per cent of the 240-watt power required for the metal halide alternatives, while maintenance costs are also virtually eliminated by the long life of LED lamps.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;quot;ITRI campus is the open environment for new pilot technologies,&amp;quot; commented Dr Ian Chan, vice-president and general director of ITRI.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;quot;Therefore, we decided to adopt the latest and most advanced systems in LED lighting technology to illuminate our campus.&amp;quot;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;SemiLEDs recently expanded its production capacity with the launch of a third production facility in Hsin-Chu Science Park, Taiwan.&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19298290"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-19298290-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19298290" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
