A real-time liquid detection sensor that eliminates the need to wire or cable a data centre for liquid leak detection capabilities has been introduced by RF Code.

The sensor combines unique thin-film technology with the firm's wire-free environmental monitoring technology to allow users to deploy liquid detection in order to protect electronic equipment.

Developed as a result of the strategic partnership between the University of Texas IC2 Institute's Global Commercialisation Group and Korean-based Yumin System Technology, the real-time, wire-free fluid detection sensor is a first in the US.

"By eliminating the costly cabling problem and building in a sensor infrastructure that's easily deployable and redeployable, RF Code is changing the way data centres attack longstanding challenges," commented Mitch Medford, chief executive officer of RF Code.

Earlier this month the firm announced a partnership with systems integration and technical services provider EMW, allowing EMW to sell RF Code's adaptive asset management solution to the government market.
