&lt;p style="margin:0;"&gt;&lt;span&gt;LEDs used in mobile phone cameras have been shown once again to provide a better light source than other components.&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;A study by thin-form supercapacitor developer CAP-XX indicates that LEDs provide more light energy than most xenon flashes suitable for five-megapixel slim camera phones and digital cameras.&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;A previous study by the firm had compared the impact of the components in 1.3-3.2-megapixel devices.&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;Commenting on the findings, CAP-XX vice-president of applications engineering Pierre Mars explained: &amp;amp;quot;People often wrongly assume that light power, which is the brightness or intensity of the flash, is the key because it&amp;#39;s what draws our attention, but it&amp;#39;s really the light energy that counts.&amp;amp;quot;&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;Xenon flash tests used SonyEricsson, Nokia and Samsung phone models, while standard battery-powered LEDs were tested using the Nokia N73 and N96 models.&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;Supercapacitor-powered LEDs were tested using a two-LED array of Philips Luxeon PWM4s at 2A each.&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;Earlier this year, the company tested surface mountable supercapacitors using working prototypes in order to test their suitability for mass assembly production.&amp;lt;br/&amp;gt;!&lt;/span&gt;http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19378288|alt=ADNFCR-1785-ID-19378288-ADNFCR|src=http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19378288&lt;span&gt;!&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
