Nanoco signs major deal for LED and LDC TV development

Nanoco, a Manchester-based manufacturer of quantum dots, has announced that it has signed a joint development agreement with a major Japanese electronics firm under which it will design and develop quantum dots for use in LEDs and LCD televisions. Under the agreement, Nanoco will receive an upfront payment and further milestone payments as the deal progresses. When the 18-month development time period is up, it is expected that the electronics firm will sign a supply and licence agreement with Nanoco. "We are delighted to enter into this agreement with a major company aimed at using our quantum dots in LCD TVs," commented Michael Edelman, chief executive officer at Nanoco. "This follows an earlier agreement with another major corporation, which is progressing well. We anticipate signing further deals in the LED market."
