Infotainment display solution features integrated resistors

A new scalable solution suitable for a variety of display resolutions and featuring termination resistors has been launched.

National Semiconductor has introduced the industry's first serialiser and deserialiser (SerDes) chipsets, which include integrated resistors to save board space and reduce cost.

They operate with either a 1.8V or 3.3V I/Os and are capable of driving high-resolution, 24-bit colour flat-panel displays with a 65 MHz clock.

Part of the company's FPD-Link II SerDes chipset family, the new products include the DS90UR907Q serialiser and DS90UR908Q deserialiser, which use a low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) interface and the DS90UR905Q serialiser and DS90UR906Q deserialiser, which use a low-voltage CMOS (LVCMOS) parallel interface.

The firm's new additions deliver a scalable pixel clock range (5 MHz to 65 MHz), permitting a modular platform for low-resolution (WQVGA) through high-resolution (XGA) infotainment displays.

Meanwhile, a new high-power low-value metal strip resistor which has been moulded for high temperature encapsulation was recently unveiled by Vishay.
