The lighting sector is one of the most obvious target markets for optoelectronics, it has been claimed.

According to newelectronics, the replacement of incandescent bulbs with new, LED alternatives opens up many windows of opportunity within the sector.

This is because optoelectronics are able to encompass the whole spectrum of light, not just that which is visible, thus eliminating the problem of uneven spectrums.

Optoelectronics can also be beneficial in the drive to become more environmentally-friendly, the news provider continues.

It states: "The transition of lighting systems from traditional lamps and tubes to LEDs has a major impact on energy efficiency (better) as well as on product lifetimes (longer)."

Because electronic displays are increasingly being used in place of printed signs, the focus on saving energy is even more important, newelectronics asserts.
