Cree has announced the launch of EasyWhite LED bins, which it claims offer a more consistent colour emission as a result of the technology used.

Currently the product is available for the XLamp MC-E bulbs, with the item giving out a consistent correlated colour temperature (CCT) of 3500 K, 3000 K or 2700 K.

Paul Thieken, director of marketing for LED components at Cree, explained that the EasyWhite bins will simplify inventory needs and manufacturing complexity.

Rather than using four chips with a common phosphor, the product contains four individual white LEDs with different phosphor coating.

Mr Thieken added: "We've listened to our customers' requests for tighter colour points, especially for warm and neutral-white lighting applications."

EasyWhite bins are up to 75 per cent smaller than the ANSI C78.377 standard colour regions, with the company claiming that clients can specify CCT and light output.

Last week, Cree announced the released of the XLamp XP-E LED, which has been designed for outside use.
