&lt;span&gt;A leading global manufacturer in the discrete and analogue semiconductor market has unveiled a high-frequency converter said to save space and be more efficicent.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Diodes Incorporated, which has its headquarters in Texas, has released the AP5100 step-down converter designed for television set-top boxes, modems and distributed power applications.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Within its concise six-pin SOT26 frame, it features a built-in power MOFSET and internal compensation that the manufacturer believes will limit external component requirements.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;Another feature of the new converter is its enable pin that allows the AP5100 to go on standby, thus using only 0.1 uA. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;It also features a self-protection &amp;amp;quot;on-chip thermal shutdown&amp;amp;quot; and an over-current protection mechanism designed to ensure reliability over a long period of time.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;The firm&amp;#39;s wide-ranging repertoire includes producing diodes, power management solutions and hall-effect and temperature sensors.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span&gt;In addition to facilities in Texas and California, Diodes Incorporated has manufacturing bases in western Europe, as well as Taiwan and China.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19701439"&gt;&lt;img alt="ADNFCR-1785-ID-19701439-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1785&amp;amp;itemid=19701439" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div style="clear:both;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
