The market for wireless sensor network components is experiencing a resurgence as global economies stabilise, according to a new industry report.

West Technology Research Solutions has analysed the wireless sensor network components market for the first quarter of 2010, with findings that may make positive reading for those operating in the sector.

Principal analyst Kirsten West says: "The market for wireless sensor network components appears to be on the rebound.

"Companies are back in growth mode and are looking for new opportunities to expand their revenues."

The report, targeted at radio frequency semiconductor developers and end-product original equipment manufacturers, considers the applications of wireless sensors in systems for home networking, smart metering, and industrial and agricultural use.

While military applications - such as monitoring a given area - are among their core purposes, wireless sensor networks have spread into a variety of areas of both business and consumer life.

In the home, they can provide the necessary detection of light, sound or movement required to automate various processes when an individual enters a given room or area of the property.
