Optoelectronics manufacturer expecting capacitive touch panel boost

A Taiwanese optoelectronics manufacturer said it expects its revenues to increase by 30 per cent later this year, thanks to shipments of capacitive touch panels to global consumer electronics vendors.

Young Fast Optoelectronics announced that shipments of the panels totalled 17.6 million units for the first quarter of 2010, a slight drop from the final quarter of 2009, when it achieved 18 million units.

However, the firm, which enjoyed a 15 per cent increase in its revenue in the fourth quarter of 2009, is expecting a 30 per cent rise by the end of this year, Digitimes reports.

Its top three consumer electronics client are Samsung, LG and HTC, all of which are involved in the global smartphone market.

Specialising in small to medium-sized touch panels, Young Fast employs more than 3,700 staff at its facilities in Taiwan and China.
