Seminar 'gives insight' into LED possibilities

A recent seminar has given participants an insight into the possibilities of LED technology.

Bob Henderson of North Carolina-based utility firm Progress Energy told attendees about how the company has used the innovations in this area and outdoor lighting to develop an "innovative model schedule", LED magazine reports.

During the meeting, Mr Henderson outlined processes and technical requirements before moving forward with LED lighting.

The publication noted that his discussion of the industry had given "participants valuable insight into the utility's [Progress Energy] perspective and expectations".

LED lighting has certainly been embraced by some of the world's more recognisable brands such as Toshiba, which recently made a firm commitment to ditch manufacturing of incandescent bulbs in favour of diode-based production.

Similarly, at a recent trade show in Frankfurt, the new innovation dominated many of the exhibition booths.

The trend has also spread to street lighting, with Seattle embarking on a five-year project to use more energy efficient bulbs.
