US semiconductor maker unveils micro-USB switch

A California-based semiconductor manufacturer has introduced a new USB transceiver and USB detection switch, which it claims offers increased functionality while not compromising on space and power for mobile designs.

Fairchild Semiconductor, which has its headquarters in San Jose, unveiled its FSA9280A micro-USB switch and the FUSB2500 transceiver and suggested the new releases bring "design advantages".

According to the manufacturer, the FSA9280A carry an auto detection feature which means it can decipher the right path for each accessory that goes through it and can "minimise power consumption in the standby state".

Both it and the FUSB2500 offer a number of built-in protection functions.

The semiconductor maker believes these products "are instrumental in delivering a rich user experience" and can maintain signal integrity.

Fairchild describes its mission as one of "reducing wasted energy and improving efficiency in an increasingly power-hungry world".

The company has pledged to continue to invest in USB solutions to advance mobile technology designs.
